Braid Lamp

WorkPosted by Johanna Landin Mon, February 08, 2010 17:57:56

The Braid Lamp is a reading light made of a textile braid and a supporting frame. By connecting it to the frame it works as an ordinary floor lamp. If you release it from the support it can be hanged or wrapped around things and brought wherever in the room you might need light.

"I wanted to create a reading light that could be moved almost anywhere and that encourages people to touch it and carry it with them."

The Braid Lamp is exhibited in Green House at Stockholm Furniture 9-13 February 2010 together with thirteen other projects in the stand of Konstfacks Master program of Interior Architecture and Furniture Design.

Parasite Shelf

WorkPosted by Johanna Landin Fri, May 22, 2009 14:56:40

The Parasite Shelf can be used only if it has something to attach itself to. Another piece of furniture or a wall to possess.

It can then grow and expand, living in symbiosis with its host and offering additional features to it. Yet, as the parasite grows, it may slowly take over its host, making it redundant.

When the host is subdued, the parasite backs away to wait for a new host on which to cling. As long as new furniture or rooms comes to act as host, the Parasite Shelf can always be reborn.

Paraste shelf was exhibited in the Greenhouse at Stockholm Furniture Fair 2009 and will be shown in the Youngster section at DMY Berlin Design Festival 3-7 June 2009.
